Implementasi Bio-Decomposition Lab Berbasis Takakura dalam Pembelajaran Eco-STEM di SMA Islam Diponegoro Wagir

Food waste management is a critical environmental challenge in school and community environments. This study/community service program aims to implement a Takakura basket-based Bio-Decomposition Lab as an Eco-STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) educational medium to enhance students' scientific literacy and environmental awareness at SMA Islam Diponegoro Wagir. The program employed an interactive approach consisting of three main stages: (1) socialization and education on organic waste separation and management, (2) technical training on constructing and maintaining the Bio-Decomposition Lab using the Takakura method, and (3) integrating the composting process into Eco-STEM learning modules (applying scientific analysis of decomposition, mathematical ratio/time calculations, and engineering aspects of the bio-decomposition basket). The results indicate that implementing the Bio-Decomposition Lab effectively improves students' knowledge and skills in organic waste management. A significant enhancement was observed in students' scientific literacy, particularly in their ability to analyze biochemical decomposition phenomena and apply numerical mathematics to measure composting efficiency. Furthermore, this initiative successfully fostered a green school culture and strengthened environmental consciousness through hands-on, sustainable food waste processing.
